Our Story

Our Story

Redwood Ice Theatre Company began as a passion project during the 2020 Covid shutdowns. When most theaters and performance venues had gone dark, we looked for new, innovative ways to share a little inspiration and joy. Our company of former competitive and professional figure skaters created a series of outdoor (socially-distanced) skating variety shows on plastic ice. That's right... "pretend ice" that we could easily travel to different venues throughout Sonoma County. Thanks to the SmartRink synthetic ice panels, we have been able to share our new outdoor pop-up skating productions throughout Sonoma County.

Many of our company members grew up skating in Santa Rosa at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena (aka Snoopy's Home Ice) skating rink, built by the famous cartoonist, Charles M. Schulz. Most of us remember either watching or performing in the spectacular Christmas shows, produced by the Schulz family. Redwood Ice Theatre Company is now honored to call Snoopy's Home Ice our home rink and skate alongside the world's more famous beagle, Snoopy!

Today our goal is to produce quality productions and make professional ice skating shows more available to the community. We are thrilled to announce a series of new shows on both plastic and "real" ice!
